Our new Lancaster exclusive is a tribute to the brave and daring Dambuster's of 617 Squadron who flew specially modified Lancaster's in World War II using a new and TOP SECRET WEAPON.
617 Squadron was led by 24-year old Wing Commander Guy Gibson and was made up of aircrew from Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the USA.
On the night of 16-17 May 1943, Wing Commander Guy Gibson led 617 Squadron of the Royal Air Force on an audacious bombing raid to destroy three dams in the Ruhr valley, the industrial heartland of Germany. The mission was codenamed Operation 'Chastise'.
The dams were fiercely protected. Torpedo nets in the water stopped underwater attacks and anti-aircraft guns defended them against enemy bombers.
But 617 Squadron had a secret weapon: the 'bouncing bomb’.
The surviving aircrew of 617 Squadron were lauded as heroes, and Guy Gibson was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions during the raid.
The Retro 51 Tornado Lancaster is a retractable rollerball pen with a trademarked knurled twist-top. Mk III Special Lancaster Bomber, Reg AJ-G has authentic WWII Night Bomber markings and features acid-etched printing to recreate plane panels, exhaust cover to mask flames and rivets markings. The paint finish combined with the acid-etching gives each pen a unique yet slightly vintage quality much the same as the real Bombers.
Each pen is finished with jet black trim and the top disc features the night roundel.
The Tornado Lancaster takes a Schmidt P8127 rollerball refill, or alternatively you could fit an EasyFlow refill if you prefer ballpoints.
